Is a proforma invoice a tax invoice?
No. It is an offer and is not entered as a sale; the final invoice is.
What is a proforma invoice?
A first invoice sent before the goods are delivered, so the buyer can pay in advance, arrange an import licence or open a letter of credit. It is not a demand for payment and is not entered in the accounts as a sale.
How is it different from an invoice?
A proforma invoice comes first and can still change; the final invoice comes with or after the delivery and is what the buyer pays.
