Veconvert privacy policy: your files are converted in your browser and never uploaded. What we do receive, why, how long it is kept, and your rights, in plain words.

Your files are never uploaded

Conversion happens in your browser, on your device. The files you open, and the files made from them, are not sent to us or to anyone else, so we do not receive, see, store or share them. This is how the software is built, not a promise about how we behave: the pages load their code and then work on your device, and they keep working with the connection off.

What reaches a server

Loading a page is a normal web request, and our hosting provider (Cloudflare, and Vercel where we use it) handles it. Like any web host, it sees your IP address, your browser's user agent, the page asked for and the time, and keeps short-lived logs of them to run and protect the service, for example against attacks. We use those logs only for that, and do not combine them with anything else.

No tracking, no adverts, no selling

The site loads no analytics, advertising or social-media scripts and no third-party fonts or libraries from other companies' servers: everything it uses is served from our own domain. We do not build profiles, show adverts, or sell or share personal information with anyone, as "sell" and "share" are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act or any other law.

Cookies and browser storage

The site sets no cookies. It keeps a few small settings in your browser's storage, such as your light or dark theme, and they never leave your device. Each one is listed, with what it is for and how to remove it, in our cookie and storage policy (cookies.html).

Accounts and payments

Accounts and paid checkout are not open yet. When they open, an account will hold your email address, your plan and a record of credits added and spent, kept for as long as the account is open and then as long as tax and accounting law requires. Card payments will be taken by a payment processor, which receives your card details directly; we will never see or store a full card number. This page will be updated, and its date changed, before that happens.

When you write to us

If you email us, or use the contact form (which opens your own email app), we receive your email address and what you write, use them to answer you, and keep the conversation for as long as is needed to deal with it and any follow-up.

Legal basis (EU and UK)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, the short-lived server logs are kept on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure service; account and payment data, once those exist, on the basis of the contract with you and our legal obligations; and email correspondence on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, or to receive it in a portable form, by emailing privacy@veconvert.com. We answer within one month. You will not be treated differently for asking. If you are in the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13 (16 in parts of the EU) and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

International transfers

Our hosting providers run servers in many countries. Where personal information (such as a server log) is handled outside your country, it is protected by the providers' standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

Changes and contact

If what the software does with personal information changes, this page changes first, and its date below with it. Questions: privacy@veconvert.com.
