DXF to DWG

Free online DXF to DWG converter. Convert DXF to DWG and get a DWG drawing that opens in AutoCAD, BricsCAD and DraftSight, at real scale. Reads lines, arcs, circles, polylines, text and layers, at real scale. Runs in your browser: nothing uploaded, no sign-up.

Runs in your browser · Nothing uploaded

Works with: AutoCAD · Fusion 360 · LibreCAD · QCAD · DraftSight

Drop several files at once to convert the whole folder in one pass. Got a different format? A PNG, JPG, HEIC, PDF, SVG or DXF still comes out as DWG.

How it works

  1. Upload the drawing

Read in the browser. Nothing is uploaded.

  2. Check units and extents

The checker reports what the file declares before you rely on it.

  3. Export

Units are written into the output so the next program does not have to guess.

DXF to DWG: the drawing is written as an AutoCAD R2000 DWG, which every AutoCAD, BricsCAD and DraftSight version since 2000 opens. A DXF to DWG converter that is free and online, with layers and units kept.

Why it matters

Units survive the trip

The most common way a CAD interchange goes wrong is a file arriving with no declared units. Our DXF output always states them.

Extents reported, not assumed

The real drawing bounds are read from the geometry rather than trusted from a header that may be stale.

Entity types flagged

SPLINE, ELLIPSE, HATCH and TEXT are the entities that most often fail on import. They are reported before you find out at the machine.

Nothing uploaded

Client drawings stay on your machine, which matters when the work is under NDA.

Is DXF to DWG worth paying for?

A DWG is the file a shop actually runs. Walk through the artwork requirements a laser cutter, a CNC shop or a sign maker publishes and the same request appears: send something a machine can follow. What turns up instead is a screenshot or a logo pulled off a website at 600 pixels, and somebody redraws it by hand — twenty-five to forty minutes — or sends it to an art service at $25 to $60 a file.

The conversion here is free and unlimited and stays that way. The paid plan is what unlocks the machine formats, which are never watermarked at any tier because a mark in a cut file is extra cut paths a machine would run.

Questions

Can you read DWG?

Yes, in your browser: AutoCAD R13 to 2018 files, with the exception of the 2007 format, which is refused with a message rather than misread. Lines, arcs, circles, polylines, splines, ellipses, blocks and layers are read; text and hatch fills are counted and reported but not drawn. DWG can be written too, as AutoCAD 2000, which every current CAD program opens.

What DXF version do you write?

R2000 by default, which current CAD and CAM packages read. R12 is available for older controllers.

Will my layers survive?

Layer names and colours are kept, and layers that were off or frozen stay that way. Blocks are exploded into their shapes; attributes and paper-space layouts are not carried across.
