CV and Passport-Style Photo Background Remover
Put a portrait on a clean white or coloured background for a CV, LinkedIn or an ID-style photo. The AI finds the person on any background, in your browser.
How it works
Open the image
A photo of a person, a pet, a product or anything else, on any background, or a logo on a plain one.
Pick the method
AI finds the subject on a busy background (tap the subject if it picks the wrong thing); the people model is tuned for portraits; plain background is instant for logos and studio shots.
Download a transparent PNG
Every original pixel is kept. Only the alpha channel is written, or a new white or coloured background.
White background for a CV photo
A background remover for CV photos: the people model finds you on any background - a room, a street, a garden - and puts you on clean white. CV photo white background in one step, as a JPG ready for a CV or a job application.
Also a passport photo background remover for a first draft: change photo background to white or to a light grey or blue with New background > Colour. Official passport and visa photos have rules on size, head position and lighting, so check them before printing. For a LinkedIn photo background, pick any colour you like.

Why it matters
AI that runs on your device
The subject is found by a neural network (Google's MediaPipe segmentation models) running in this tab: the photo is never uploaded to a server to be cut out.
Edges that follow the photo
The model's mask is refined against the picture itself, so the edge sits on hair, fur and a cup's rim instead of a blurry halo.
Your photo, not a trace of it
Shading, grain and gradients survive, because the pixels are untouched.
It tells you when it failed
If almost everything or almost nothing was removed, the page says which and what to change.
Questions
Does this make a valid passport photo?
It gives the white background. Passport rules also fix the photo size, head size and lighting, which depend on the country; crop and check against them before printing.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The AI runs in your browser; the photo never leaves your device.
Why did it remove part of my subject?
The subject touches the border, or matches it closely. Lower the tolerance, or crop so the subject does not reach the edge.
Why is the background still there?
It is probably not one connected colour, or the subject reaches every edge. Raise the tolerance.
Can I get a JPEG?
A JPEG has no transparency, so the cutout would come back on a white ground. Use the PNG.
Will it cut a person out of an ordinary photo?
Yes, with Method set to "AI: people" or "AI: any subject": the model finds the person whatever is behind them. Fine flyaway hair can come out slightly soft; raise Edge softness for a gentler edge or lower it for a crisper one.
The AI picked the wrong thing. What now?
Tap the subject on the original picture: the model cuts out whatever is under that point. Tap again elsewhere to change it.
Is it really free with no upload?
Yes. The model files (about 18 MB the first time, then cached by your browser) are downloaded once and everything runs on your own device.
