Letterhead Template for Word

Make an MS Word letterhead with your logo, address, phone, email, website and social media icons, then download a .docx file. The design sits in the Word header and footer, so every page you type carries it. Opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Pages and LibreOffice.

The letterhead maker is loading.

How it works

  1. Design the letterhead

Pick a layout and put in your logo, name, address, phone, email, website, registration number and social media handles. Click anything on the page to change it.

  2. Download Word (.docx)

Word is already chosen as the download. The top of the design goes in the Word header and the bottom in the footer, behind the text.

  3. Type your letters in Word

Open the file in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Pages or LibreOffice and type. Save it as a Word Template (.dotx) to start every letter from it.

This letterhead template word maker designs the letterhead first and gives you the Word file after: pick a layout, put in your logo, address, phone, email, website and social media handles, and download an ms word letterhead as a .docx.

Unlike a word letterhead template where the design is loose shapes on the page, here the top of the design goes in the Word header and the bottom in the footer. Type your letter as usual and the letterhead in word stays put on every page, behind the text.

How to make a letterhead in Word

The quick way: design it here, download Word (.docx), open it and type. The manual way in Word: double-click the top margin to open the header, insert your logo (Insert, Pictures) and type your name and address; double-click the bottom margin for the footer and add your phone, email, website and social links; close the header and footer and save the file as a Word Template (.dotx) under File, Save As, so each new letter starts from it.

Save it as a Word template

In Word, open the downloaded file, choose File, Save As, and pick Word Template (*.dotx). New documents made from it start with the letterhead and an empty page. In Google Docs, keep the uploaded copy and use File, Make a copy for each letter.

Letterhead format in Word

A4 (210 x 297 mm) or US Letter. The header holds the logo and name, the footer the contact line and social media icons; the letter itself has normal margins below the header, so Word lays out the text as it would on plain paper.

Questions

Can I edit the letterhead in Word later?

The text you type is ordinary Word text. The letterhead itself is a picture in the header and footer, so to change the design or a phone number, change it here and download again.

Will it print correctly?

Yes: the header and footer pictures are placed against the page edges, so the colours go right to the edge where your printer allows it.

How do I make a letterhead in Word?

Design it here and download Word (.docx): the letterhead is already in the header and footer. To do it by hand in Word, double-click the top margin, insert your logo and type your details, then do the same in the footer.

How do I save a letterhead as a template in Word?

Open the downloaded file, choose File, Save As, and pick Word Template (*.dotx). New documents made from it start with the letterhead.

Which versions of Word open it?

Word 2010 and later on Windows and Mac, Word on the web, and the Word app on phones; also Google Docs, Apple Pages and LibreOffice.

Can I add social media icons to the footer?

Yes: LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and WhatsApp, with your handles or as icons only.
