Pie Chart Maker: Make a Pie Chart with Percentages

Make a pie chart online: type your numbers or paste them from Excel and the percentages are worked out for you. Donut, half donut or 3D pie, a colour per slice, your heading and legend, then a PDF, PNG or SVG.

The chart maker is loading.

How it works

  1. Type or paste your numbers

A name and a number on each row, or copy two columns in Excel or Google Sheets and paste them, or open an .xlsx or .csv file. The percentages are worked out from the total for you.

  2. Pick pie, donut, half donut or 3D

Then the colours: a palette for the whole chart, or click the square beside a row to give that slice its own colour, by hex code or from your brand kit.

  3. Add the heading and download

A heading and subheading, a legend beside or under it, labels with percentages, values or both, a source line at the foot. Download a PDF, PNG, JPG or SVG.

This pie chart maker turns a list of amounts into a pie chart with each slice labelled as a share of the whole. Type the numbers as they are (money, votes, hours) and the pie chart generator adds them up and shows the percentages, so there is no maths to do first.

It is a pie graph maker and pie chart creator in one: choose a plain pie, a donut chart maker layout with the total in the middle, a half donut for survey results, or a 3d pie chart maker look for a presentation. Searching for a pi chart maker or a piechart maker? This is the same thing.

How to make a pie chart

List what you are dividing up and how much of each there is. Put the biggest slice first (the Largest first button does it), keep to about six slices and group the small ones as Others, and give the chart a heading that says what the whole is. That is how to make a pie chart people read at a glance; to make a pie chart from a spreadsheet, paste the two columns.

A pie chart maker with percentages, values or both

Under Labels choose percentages, the values with your own symbol before or after ($, %, kg), both, or the names with their percentages around the outside. A pie chart maker with percentages that also lets you pick the decimals; small slices get their label outside with a line, so nothing overlaps.

Colours for every slice

Pick one of eleven palettes, or the colours of a style, then change any single slice: the colour panel searches by name or hex code and keeps your brand colours. A free pie chart maker to try; the download follows the site plan.

Questions

How many slices should a pie chart have?

Up to about six reads well. More than that and the small slices are hard to compare: group them as Others, or use the bar graph maker instead.

Do the numbers have to add up to 100?

No. Type the real amounts and the chart works out each one's share of the total.

Can I put the chart in a slide?

Yes. Pick the Slide 16:9 page size, or download a PNG at 300 dpi or a vector SVG.

How do I make a pie chart with percentages?

Type each item and its amount; the maker adds them up and shows each slice as a percentage of the total. Under Labels choose Percentages, Values, Values and percentages, or Names and percentages.

Can I make a pie chart from Excel?

Yes. Open the .xlsx file, or copy the two columns (names and numbers) in Excel or Google Sheets and paste them. If the sheet has several columns of numbers, pick which one to draw.

Can I make a 3D pie chart or a donut chart?

Yes. Choose 3D pie, Donut or Half donut above your numbers. A donut can show the total, or your own words, in the middle.

Can I change the colour of one slice?

Yes. Click the colour square beside its row, then pick from the palette, type a hex code such as #ff6600, or use your brand kit.

Can I put several charts on one page?

Yes. Under Charts on this page, add up to six: pies, donuts, bars and lines side by side, one under another or in a grid, with a heading over them all. Click a chart on the page to edit it.
