File formats by machine
What each machine takes, how big its work area is, and the units to export in. Confirm against your own machine before cutting: work areas differ between revisions and accessories.

What the formats are for
- SVG
- Paths for cutting and for design software. The common currency between everything here.
- DXF
- CAD interchange. Carries real units in its header, which is why a DXF without them imports at the wrong scale.
- G-code
- Motion commands the controller runs directly. Machine specific, and not interchangeable between controllers without checking.
- STL
- A triangle mesh for 3D printing. A flat vector becomes one by extrusion, so it needs a depth as well as a size.
- EPS and PDF
- Print interchange. Both carry a real physical bounding box.
- DST, PES, JEF
- Stitch files. Not shapes but needle paths, which is a different job from tracing.
