Trace settings
Full-colour trace for print and web.
Fine-tune
Raise it to clear dust, grain and stray dots; 0 keeps every mark.
Untick for pixel art: the outline then follows every pixel edge.
With Remove background: how close a colour must be to the background to go with it.
Machine output
Height follows the source aspect ratio.
Laser and Router follow the traced outlines. Engrave photo burns the picture itself, line by line, for photos and portraits.
Heat transfer vinyl is pressed face down, so it has to be cut mirrored. The second box is the overcut in millimetres: a drag knife starts each shape pointing the wrong way, and running past the start covers that stretch properly so the piece weeds out clean.
Beam or bit width. Left at zero the tool runs down the centre of the line, so a part finishes one tool width undersize. Set it and the path is offset by half, with holes offset the opposite way.
Holes before the part that holds them, so nothing comes loose while there is still cutting to do. Also shortens the travel between cuts.
See it on your product
Put this artwork on a 3D mug, tumbler, sign, phone case or canvas, turn it all the way round, or drop it onto a photograph of your own blank. The preview page has the product picker, the colours and the placement controls.

We rebuild the shapes
The engine finds the edges and redraws them as real curves, not a bitmap in a wrapper.

PNG to SVG converter: convert PNG to SVG with real vector paths
PNG to SVG here means a real trace: this png to svg converter finds the edges in your PNG and redraws them as curves and corners, so the SVG scales to any size and cuts cleanly. Many "converters" only wrap the PNG inside an SVG tag, which still pixelates and gives a cutter nothing to follow.
To convert png to svg, drop the PNG in, pick colour layers for a logo or a single outline for a cutter, check the preview and download. Transparency stays transparent and the holes in letters stay holes.
Searched for pngtosvg as one word? You are in the right place. It is a png to vector converter free to use, with no account and no upload: the trace runs in your browser.
Selling on Etsy, Shopify or Merch by Amazon? Print-on-demand needs artwork that stays sharp at 4500 px and beyond: a trace into vector paths does, a stretched PNG does not. Flat colours stay flat, edges stay crisp, and there is no oil-painting smear for a print shop to reject.
PNG to SVG for Cricut Design Space
Choose the single-outline (mono) mode, then upload the SVG to Cricut Design Space. Each colour or shape arrives as its own layer you can weld, attach or slice, and the cut lines follow the edges of your design instead of the square around the image. There is a dedicated PNG to SVG for Cricut page with those settings preset.
Short answer: how to convert a PNG to SVG
Upload the PNG, choose colour or outline, download the SVG. The file is a true vector, so it stays sharp when enlarged.
How to convert PNG to SVG
1. Drop the PNG on this page. 2. Choose colour layers for a logo or illustration, or a single outline (mono) for a cutter. 3. Check the preview against the original with the slider. 4. Download the SVG. It runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Why it matters
Real geometry, not a wrapper
Several popular converters base64-embed your original bitmap inside an SVG tag. That file does not scale, cut or separate. Open ours and there is no <image> tag anywhere in it.
Corners stay corners
Sharp angles are detected and kept sharp, while curves between them are smoothed. A logo comes back with its corners square.
Holes stay holes
Counters in lettering and enclosed shapes trace with opposite winding, so they render and cut as holes rather than filling in.
Nothing leaves your machine
No upload, no queue, and no copy of your artwork on someone else’s server.
Questions
Why do other PNG to SVG converters give a photo an oil-painting look?
A photo traced at its own size is cut into colour patches a few pixels across, and drawn back they read as dabs of paint: fur turns to blotches and grass to camouflage. Here a small photo (up to 600 px) is traced at twice its size, each pixel kept sharp (no smoothing), and scaled back, so the patches are four times smaller. Measured on four photos against the original, the match (SSIM) went from 0.80 to 0.92 and the fine detail kept from 70% to 90%. A soft background stays a smooth gradient instead of one flat block.
Why does my converted SVG look pixelated or blurry?
Because the tool you used embedded the PNG inside the SVG instead of tracing it. An SVG like that is still a bitmap and blurs when scaled. A traced png to svg conversion, like this one, draws paths, so it stays sharp at any size. If a traced SVG looks rough, start from a larger PNG or raise the detail setting.
How do I convert a PNG to SVG for Cricut Design Space?
Upload the PNG here, pick the outline (mono) mode for a single cut colour or colour mode for layers, download the SVG and use Upload > Browse in Cricut Design Space. Choose "Cut image" rather than "Print then cut". Transparent areas stay empty, so there is no box around the design.
Is this PNG to SVG converter free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no watermark on everyday downloads, and your PNG is never uploaded.
Will the SVG keep my PNG’s transparency?
Yes. Transparent pixels are left out of the trace, so the SVG has no background unless you ask for one.
Is this VTracer?
Partly. Photographs and full-colour illustrations are traced with VTracer by visioncortex (MIT or Apache-2.0 licence), compiled to run in your browser. Logos, lettering and flat artwork go through this site's own tracer, which keeps small letters and square corners that a photo tracer rounds off.
How is it different from running VTracer myself?
The trace is the same engine for photos, with three things added: a small photo is traced at twice its size so it does not get an oil-painting look, the background can be removed first, and the result is written to DXF, EPS, PDF, PLT and G-code as well as SVG.
How big should my image be?
Around 1000 pixels on the long edge is a comfortable floor for a logo. Below roughly 500 the edges are already soft, and the trace follows that softness faithfully because it cannot know the blur was not intended.
Can I convert a photograph?
You can, and it is worth knowing what you get: thousands of tonal transitions become flat vector shapes, which reads as a posterised rendering rather than a faithful copy. For logos, line art, icons and lettering it does exactly what you expect.
Is the original file better?
Always. If the vector original exists somewhere, it beats any trace, ours included.
