CSV to Chart: Graph Your CSV Online

Plot a graph from a CSV or Excel file: bar, line, area, pie, scatter, bubble or heat map, with your colours, theme and titles. Download SVG, PNG or PDF.

Paste cells or a Google Sheets link

How it works

  1. Add your data

Drop in a CSV or Excel file, paste cells from a spreadsheet, or paste a Google Sheets link.

  2. Pick the chart

Automatic picks the chart that fits: a line for dates, columns for categories, a pie for a few shares, a scatter for two measures. Or choose any of eleven kinds yourself.

  3. Style it and download

Seven themes, eight colour sets, a colour per bar or per series, bar ends and widths, line weights, four fonts, titles, axis titles, legend and labels, a see-through background. Download SVG for print and the web, PNG, JPG or PDF.

CSV to chart: the CSV grapher that styles it your way

CSV to chart here reads your file, works out which columns are dates, numbers and labels, and draws the chart that fits - or any of eleven kinds you choose.

CSV to graph takes seconds: drop in the file, tick the columns to plot, and style it: seven themes (light, white, paper, dark, midnight and two Solarized), eight colour sets checked for colour-blind readers - bright, earth, cool, one-colour and greys among them - a different colour for every bar, your own colour for any series, rounded or square bars, thin or thick lines, four fonts and a see-through background.

As a csv grapher it handles the fiddly parts: repeated labels added up or averaged, dates put in order, long labels turned so they do not collide, and a legend whenever there is more than one series.

A csv plot of two measures is a scatter or a bubble chart; a csv graph over time is a line or area. Every chart downloads as SVG, PNG, JPG or PDF, with the numbers behind it.

How to make a graph from a CSV

  1. Drop in the CSV or Excel file, or paste the cells.
  2. Choose the chart, the label column and the value columns.
  3. Set the theme, colours and titles, then download.

Why it matters

Private by design

Bank statements, payroll and customer lists never leave your computer: the file is read and written in your browser.

Nothing silently changed

Leading zeros, long ID numbers, commas inside quotes and line breaks inside cells come through exactly as they were.

Numbers stay numbers

Values like 1,234.50, $1,200 and 7% are recognised, so Excel and JSON get real numbers rather than text.

Questions

Which chart types are there?

Column, horizontal bar, stacked column, line, area, XY line (a numeric x axis), scatter, bubble, pie, donut and heat map, plus Automatic, which picks from the data the way csv2chart does.

Can I choose the colours?

Yes: a light, dark or Solarized theme, a colour set checked to keep neighbouring series apart for colour-blind readers, and a colour picker for every series if you want your brand colours.

What if a label appears on many rows?

Rows with the same label are combined: added up, averaged, the smallest, the largest, or counted. Choose which under Repeated labels.

Is the SVG editable?

Yes. It is plain SVG with real text and shapes, so it opens in Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma or PowerPoint and every bar and label can be changed.

Can I plot a graph from a CSV in Python instead?

You can, with pandas and matplotlib: df = pandas.read_csv("data.csv"); df.plot(x="Month", y="Revenue"). This page does the same without writing code, and gives you a styled chart to download.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The whole conversion runs in your browser, so the file never leaves your computer.

Can it open a password-protected PDF or Excel file?

Yes. Drop it in and you are asked for the password; the file is unlocked in your browser and the password is never sent or saved. PDFs locked with RC4 or AES (up to AES-256, PDF 2.0) and Excel workbooks saved with Encrypt with Password both open. A PDF that only restricts copying or printing opens without asking. Without the password nothing is guessed: the file stays shut.

How big a file can it handle?

Hundreds of thousands of rows are fine on a normal laptop; the preview shows the first rows and the download has them all.
