How do I convert an Excel file to PDF?
Drop the .xlsx file on this page, choose the paper and orientation, and press Download PDF. It is made in your browser; nothing is uploaded and there is no sign-up. An old Excel 97-2003 .xls file needs saving as .xlsx or CSV first (Excel, LibreOffice or Google Sheets do it).
Can the PDF be landscape?
Yes. Pick Landscape, or leave Automatic and a table too wide for a portrait page is turned sideways by itself. A3 and Tabloid give still more room for very wide tables.
What happens to a table with many columns?
Long cells wrap inside their column first. If the columns still do not fit across the page, the type is made smaller (down to 5.5 pt) until they do, so no column is cut off the edge; the page says what size was used. Untick "Fit every column" to keep the size you chose.
Does the header repeat on every page?
Yes, the header row is printed at the top of every page, and a row is never split between two pages. Rows are shaded alternately and the pages numbered; both can be turned off.
Is the text in the PDF selectable?
Yes. The text is real text in an embedded font (Liberation Sans), so it can be searched, selected and copied, and the file stays small. Letters that font has no shape for (Chinese, Arabic, emoji) are drawn as sharp pictures so nothing is lost.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The CSV or spreadsheet is read and the PDF written in your browser tab, so customer lists, finance exports and payroll files stay on your computer.
