PES Files for Brother SE600

Turn a logo, drawing or lettering into a PES embroidery file your Brother SE600 will stitch, sized to fit its hoop.

Software

The SE600 stitches a 4 x 4 in field. A design any larger is refused at the machine, so size it here first.

Hoop sizes vary with the hoops you own. Confirm against your machine before stitching.

Trace settings

Full-colour trace for print and web.

Fine-tune

Raise it to clear dust, grain and stray dots; 0 keeps every mark.

Untick for pixel art: the outline then follows every pixel edge.

With Remove background: how close a colour must be to the background to go with it.

Machine output

Height follows the source aspect ratio.

Laser and Router follow the traced outlines. Engrave photo burns the picture itself, line by line, for photos and portraits.

Heat transfer vinyl is pressed face down, so it has to be cut mirrored. The second box is the overcut in millimetres: a drag knife starts each shape pointing the wrong way, and running past the start covers that stretch properly so the piece weeds out clean.

mm, 0 for none

Beam or bit width. Left at zero the tool runs down the centre of the line, so a part finishes one tool width undersize. Set it and the path is offset by half, with holes offset the opposite way.

Holes before the part that holds them, so nothing comes loose while there is still cutting to do. Also shortens the travel between cuts.

Optimise

PNG is always lossless and full resolution.

Getting the size right

Set the output width in the panel and the file carries real units, not pixels. A design that fits 4 x 4 in (102 x 102 mm) will load without rescaling, and rescaling after export is where parts come out wrong.

For this machine, 81mm is a sensible starting width, about 80 percent of the work area, which leaves room for the hoop frame and for the difference between the stated size and the usable one.

Questions

Will the Brother SE600 read this file?

The download is PES, the format the Brother SE600 reads, sized inside its 4 x 4 in (102 x 102 mm) field. Load it through the machine (USB port) or Brother PE-Design. Check the stitch preview and the colour list here first, so you know what you are loading.

What size should I export at?

Anything up to 4 x 4 in (102 x 102 mm). Set the width before downloading rather than scaling afterwards, because scaling a machine file after export is what puts parts out of true.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser, so the artwork never leaves your machine.
