Turn a picture into a hand-embroidery transfer pattern: thin, even lines at the size of your hoop, mirrored for iron-on transfer pens if you need. Free, in your browser.

How it works

  1. Open a picture

A drawing, a photo, lettering or a pattern you like: JPG, PNG or WebP, in this tab.

  2. Set the lines

Thin, even lines for stitching over; type the hoop size so the pattern prints to fit, and tick Mirror for iron-on transfer pens.

  3. Transfer and stitch

Trace it with a water-soluble pen on a light box or window, or iron it on, then stitch along the lines.

Why it matters

Lines you can stitch

Every edge one thin, even line: a back stitch or split stitch line to follow, not a blotchy photo.

The size of your hoop

Set the size in cm or inches and it prints exactly that big.

Mirror for iron-on

Transfer pens and pencils print reversed onto the fabric, so the pattern can be flipped first.

Questions

How do I transfer an embroidery pattern to fabric?

Tape the printed pattern behind the fabric on a window or light box and trace it with a water-soluble or heat-erasable pen. For an iron-on pen, mirror it, trace the lines with the pen and iron it face down.

Should the pattern be blue?

Blue or grey lines are easy to cover with thread and match most transfer pens; black is fine for tracing on a light box.
