Gerber to DXF

Convert a Gerber layer to DXF outlines in millimetres, with drill holes as true circles, for a laser, a CNC isolation router, an enclosure drawing or mechanical CAD.

100%

How it works

  1. Add the Gerber files

Drop the zip your CAD program made, or the Gerber and drill files themselves. They are read in your browser.

  2. Check the board

Each layer is named from its attributes or file name. See the top, the bottom and the layer stack, and zoom into any part.

  3. Download

The board as PNG or SVG, or a layer as SVG, PDF or DXF, all at real size.

Gerber to DXF as closed outlines: each track, pad and pour becomes its outline, at real size in millimetres, and drill holes become true circles. That is what a laser (for ablating resist or etching), a CNC router doing isolation milling, or an enclosure drawing in Fusion 360 or SolidWorks wants.

This Gerber to DXF converter traces the layer at 0.04 mm (25 pixels per millimetre), finer than any track a home process or a board house makes, so the outline follows the copper.

Outlines or centrelines?

Outlines. A DXF of track centrelines with widths only works in CAD that understands polyline widths; a laser or a router needs the edge of the copper. For the board outline alone, pick the outline layer.

Why it matters

Nothing uploaded

Unreleased boards and client work stay on your computer. Everything runs in this tab.

Real size, always

Every output is in millimetres at 1:1. Printed masks carry a 50 mm bar so you can check the printer.

Read like a fab reads it

Apertures, macros, arcs, regions, clear polarity and step-and-repeat, checked against KiCad's own plots and gerbv.

Questions

Which files can I open?

Gerber RS-274X (with or without X2 attributes) from KiCad, EasyEDA, Eagle, Altium, OrCAD, DipTrace and gEDA, and Excellon drill files. A zip of all of them works.

Is my board uploaded?

No. The files are read in this browser tab.
